BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD

Check the record before the file

01

A useful download record exposes the uploader, project ID, supported version, loader or package format, filename, date, size, and changelog. Check those labels before installing.

Verity JE appears under Project ID 1591438. Its current main file is a Forge 1.20.1 JAR. The older NeoForge 1.21.1 branch remains listed, but the author warns that it is deprecated and buggy.

  • Owner and project ID match
  • Minecraft version and loader match your profile
  • The file appears in the same project history
  • The page shows a date, size, and changelog

DOWNLOADS TO AVOID

Downloads to avoid

02

Treat password-protected archives, executable installers, ad-gated mirrors, and files that hide their version as warning signs. A normal Java release is a JAR; a normal Bedrock release is an .mcaddon or .mcpack.

  • No traceable publisher page
  • EXE, MSI, BAT, or password-protected ZIP delivery
  • Claims to support every Minecraft version
  • A Java JAR relabeled as a Bedrock add-on

VERSION MATCH

Choose the release your game can actually load

03

Start with the edition shown on Minecraft's title screen. Java Edition uses Verity JE and a mod loader; Bedrock Edition uses a separately maintained add-on package. After that split, match the full game version instead of only its first two numbers. Minecraft 1.20.1 is not interchangeable with 1.21.1, and Forge is not interchangeable with NeoForge or Fabric. A newer game installation does not automatically understand a release compiled for an older loader.

For the simplest Java setup, use a dedicated Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge profile with the current 5.7.3 file. The listed NeoForge 3.4.1 release belongs to Minecraft 1.21.1, but the maintainer marks that branch as deprecated and warns about bugs. Bedrock players should compare the add-on creator, project ID, package version, and supported Bedrock release before choosing between the two public projects.

  • Confirm Java Edition or Bedrock Edition first
  • Match the complete Minecraft version
  • Match Forge, NeoForge, or .mcaddon packaging
  • Prefer the maintained branch unless you need a specific older setup
  • Keep each test in its own launcher profile or world

CHECK THE DOWNLOAD

Verify the destination, then verify the artifact

04

Read the address bar before downloading. A button on this guide should lead to the named CurseForge project or file record, where you can inspect the owner, Project ID, filename, upload date, size, supported game version, and release notes. Those details form a stronger identity check than a familiar thumbnail or a search-result title. Search ads, copied landing pages, and community reposts can use the same screenshots without serving the same file.

Leave the downloaded file unchanged while you inspect it. A Java build should remain a JAR, and a Bedrock build should retain its .mcaddon or documented pack format. A request to run an EXE, disable security tools, complete an unrelated browser extension install, or enter Minecraft credentials is outside the normal installation path. If the filename or size differs from the public record, return to the project page instead of guessing why.

  • Use the project page as the source of truth
  • Never enter an API key into a download gate
  • Scan the original file before opening it
  • Reject unexpected installers and scripts

BACK UP BEFORE UPDATING

Keep a recovery path for updates and rollbacks

05

A successful first launch does not remove the need for backups. Record the Minecraft version, loader build, Verity release, dependencies, and configuration that worked. Copy important worlds before replacing a JAR, changing an experiment, or importing a newer Bedrock package. If an update fails, that small inventory lets you rebuild the last known-good profile instead of repeatedly changing several variables at once.

Do not overwrite the only copy of an older file until the new build has loaded a disposable world and completed the actions you care about. If you roll back, restore the matching world backup as well; content created by a newer build may not be safe in an older one. Keep provider keys and private connection details out of shared mod folders, screenshots, crash reports, and public support posts.

PLAYER QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

01 Is Verity a real Minecraft mod?

Yes. Verity JE is a public CurseForge project by VarmiteYT with ThatMob listed as an author. CurseForge also hosts separate Bedrock add-on projects. A real listing does not make every mirror or similarly named file safe.

02 Where should I download Verity JE?

Use the Verity JE project and file pages on CurseForge. Check the owner, Project ID 1591438, Minecraft version, loader, filename, upload date, and changelog before installing.

03 Which Minecraft Java versions are supported?

The public Verity JE project currently lists Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1 and NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1. The project warns that its NeoForge 1.21.1 branch is deprecated and has many bugs.

04 Is there a Verity add-on for Minecraft Bedrock?

Yes. CurseForge currently lists independent .mcaddon projects including Verity BE by Undertaletalelover and Verity — Bedrock Edition by PnTMC. They are separate from the Java JAR and require their own setup instructions.
